HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
Fairy was founded in 1983 by Tan’s siblings, Tan Ah Kiang and Tan Kaci Hwak. The early starting of the operation was started at No.66, Jalan Ibrahin, Sungai Petani, Kedah under the name Roti Fairy Hot & Cake House.
Our main business includes the manufacture and distribution of cakes, various types of breads, pastries and other food items which are maintained to this day. The business has grown in strength and capability since the early days.
The two bosses decided to find a new location as their new base.
Later, a two-storey shophouse in Jalan Ibrahim, Sungai Petani was purchased in 1986 to house to become a first retail for selling Fairy products.
Fairy Group Corporation Sdn. Bhd. Fairy Food Industries Sdn.Bhd was incorporated in 1994 as the holding company and production / marketing arm of our respective groups. With this development and anticipating the potential for business growth, group production activities have been taken over by Fairy Food Industries Sdn.Bhd.
In 1997 Fairy continued to spend on distribution centers by opening new retail cake houses in the states of Kedah and Penang. From the onset, Fairy was focused on using only the finest ingredients delivered fresh daily to the bakery. This included farm fresh eggs, Grade A creamery butter, real milk, cocoa, spices and natural flavorings. Sugar and flour were sifted by hand.
With this development and anticipating the potential for business growth, group production activities have been taken over by Fairy Food Industries Sdn.Bhd.
In 1997, Fairy continued to spend on distribution centers by opening new retail cake houses in the states of Kedah and Penang.
The early cakes were produced in white, yellow, chocolate, raisin, and sponge cake varieties. After baking–at first in a single oven–the cakes were iced, cut into shapes, wrapped, packed into boxes, and distributed to other shops for sell.
In an effort to achieve perfection, Fairy has worked diligently towards new discoveries to bring about change in a competitive market. The group is led by Managing Director Tan Ah Kiang who is backed by 30 years of experience in business.
Executive Director Tan Kooi Hwak oversees production under strict quality control procedures. He has 28 years of experience in bakery production.
The directors are assisted by Senior Executive, Tengku Abdul Samad, a former commercial bank child manager with over 15 years of experience in management capacity. The management team is supported by a team of highly dedicated staff, team spirit and increased production cooperation.
Fairy provides staff training to ensure it meets the required standards in professionalism skills.
Our range of products has diversified and expanded to meet the needs of the growing customer base. At early of 2003, Fairy managed to produces more than 2,500 unit different types of bakery items, breads, pastries, muffins, cakes and biscuit a day for full filling customer needs.
Our superb team of highly trained employees and our recognizable fleet of vehicles ensure that all goods are produced and distributed fresh to our customers.
With years of preparation and understanding the fundamentals of doing business, and combination of continuous hard work, Fairy Food Industires was nominated and award in the Golden Bull Award in the year of 2003.
Currently, the main distribution outlet for the group is located at the TimeSquare shopping mall, Sungai Petani. The latest grocery stores were set up at Tesco Hypermarket, Penang in December 2004 and the Changloon complex in September 2005.
More stores were opened in the area of sungai petani and the largest store was open in Lagenda Height in the years of 2006 and able to provide more quality bread and authentic fresh cake for the local while providing new working opportunities for youngsters who have passion in bakery and culinary.
Perhaps Fairy was just a bakery brand in the memory of the locals, but the stories has change! Malaysia’s first drive-thru bakery and cafe that in a brand of Fairy Le Phénoménal had been launched in Sungai Petani Kedah since year 2018.
